There are a number of people in the world who believe, that Krabi is an island in Thailand. Well, it is not. Krabi is a province and a city but it has some well known islands belonging to the province such as the Phi Phi Islands or Koh Lanta.

Other famous beaches like Ao Nang, Railay or Phra Nang Beach are located on the mainland, in the outskirts of Krabi City. Since a few years Krabi also has an international airport with direct charter flights during the High Season to some cities in Scandinavia. In the region, there are direct flights available to Bangkok, Koh Samui, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, either by Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways or one of the regions budget carriers.
The main attraction for tourists in Krabi province is it's natural beauty. Several hundred meters high limestone rocks border with white sandy beaches and the crystal clear and blue waters of the Andaman Sea, which is a part of the Indian Ocean. This combination also attracts a growing number of scuba divers every year and they will find plenty of dive centers located at all tourist beaches in the region. Tourists can rent the famous Longtail Boats on the main beaches and travel between the smaller offshore islands where white beaches and excellent snorkeling awaits them.
